Open Mic Marathon
To promote my second single, “She Moves Through the Fair” and establish myself in the local live music scene of my University city, I built up a week long open mic itinerary. Being heavily into the 60s and 70’s British Folk Revival at this point, I wanted to reflect the warm colour pallets of that era. Additionally, I lifted some illustrations from the artwork of Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon”.
Concert Promo Material
Not long after my successful Open Mic Marathon, I got asked to perform at the Quarterhouse, a wonderful kitchen and bar owned by musicians. However, I am very hands on with the visuals of my music, being a firm believer that the impressions made by these are important. I wanted to take the existing design the Quarterhouse used to promote their music performances, and update it. A primary concern was to make something that could be easily edited by the owners so they could continue to use the template. The owners were in a band that primarily played Country, Bluegrass and Appalachian folk. Being a predominantly folk musician’s music scene, I thought a forest/mountain would not only reflect the brand image I was looking to project, but fit perfectly with almost every other performer who had played there previously.
